About the game
Bobbertide is a cozy fishing game for everyone. Hold to swing your rod, let go to cast, and watch the little red bobber. When a fish nibbles it wiggles, and when it dives under with a splash, tap to hook your catch! Then the real fun begins: hold to reel in while the tension bar rises, let go before it turns red, and bring the fish all the way to the otter's little boat.
Fish in five dreamy places, from the Lily Pond and Pinewood Lake to Coral Cove, the Jungle River and the Frosty Fjord. There are 30 species to discover, each with a fun fact in your album, plus five shining legends like the Golden Koi and the giant Arapaima. Some fish only come out at night, so wait for the moon! Sell your catch for coins, buy stronger rods and better bait, complete three goals in every lake and open the next one.
How to play
- Hold the screen, mouse button or Space to fill the power bar, then let go to cast. Far casts reach bigger fish.
- Wait for the bobber: when it dives under, tap right away to hook the fish.
- Hold to reel in. Let go when the tension bar gets red or the line snaps, but don't rest too long or the fish escapes.
- Use the moon button to wait for the night: some fish only bite in the dark.
- Buy rods and bait in the tackle shop and complete 3 goals per lake to unlock new lakes. Press P to pause.
Tips and tricks
- Don't tap when the bobber only wiggles: that is just a nibble, and tapping too early scares the fish away. Tap the moment it dives under with a splash.
- Reel in short pulls. Hold until the tension bar gets close to red, let go for a moment, then hold again. Resting too long makes the line go slack and the fish escapes.
- Cast distance matters. Small fish stay close to the boat, while big and rare fish, including the legends, wait far out, so fill the power bar for long casts.
- Upgrade the rod before the bait when big fish keep snapping the line or swimming off with all of it. A stronger rod has more line strength and reels faster.
- Some fish, like the Catfish, Walleye and Anglerfish, only bite at night. Press the moon button to wait for the dark instead of casting for hours.
- Each legend needs good bait. Check the fish album: it shows when a fish bites and which bait it needs, so you know what to buy next.
- Plan your goals. Every lake has three: catch a number of fish, discover all its regular species and land its legend. Each goal gives one star, and stars open the next lakes.

Frequently asked questions
Is Bobbertide free?
Yes. Bobbertide is a free online fishing game that you play in your browser, with no download and no account.
How do I unlock new lakes?
Complete goals to collect stars. Pinewood Lake opens at 2 stars, Coral Cove at 4, Jungle River at 7 and Frosty Fjord at 10.
Why does my fish keep getting away?
If the line snaps, you held too long while the tension bar was red. If the line goes slack, you rested too long. If the fish swims off with all your line, reel more often or buy a stronger rod.
How do I catch the legendary fish?
Cast far, use the right bait and bring a strong rod. The Golden Koi bites with a Cricket or better, while the Halibut in Frosty Fjord only takes the Golden Lure.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
Yes. The whole game is played by holding and letting go, so it works with touch on phones and tablets in portrait or landscape, and with the mouse or Space bar on a computer or Chromebook.
Is my progress saved?
Yes. Your fish, records, coins, stars and tackle are saved in your browser on that device. You can erase everything with Reset progress in the settings.
