About the game
Croakaroo is a cheerful "match the colour or the number" card game at a frog pond. Play a card with the same colour, number or symbol as the card in the middle, use action cards to make your rivals snooze, swirl the direction or gulp down extra cards, and be the first to empty your hand. When you play your second-to-last card, press Croak! – if someone catches you without calling, you draw 2.
Play against 1 to 3 computer friends with their own personalities, from tiny Pip the tree frog to clever Newton and Queen Lotus. Travel through the Pond Tour with 20 tables in 4 ponds and earn 3 stars on each, or set up a Quick Match with Easy, Normal or Hard opponents, your own target score and house rules like stacking, draw until you can play and short hands. Win fireflies and collect new card backs.
How to play
- Tap a glowing card (or drag it up) to play it: it must match the colour, the number or the symbol of the card in the middle.
- No card fits? Tap the deck to draw. If the new card fits, play it or press Keep.
- Snooze skips the next player, Swirl turns the direction, Gulp +2 makes the next player draw 2, Splash makes everyone else draw 1.
- Rainbow fits on anything and you pick the colour; Storm +4 also makes the next player draw 4.
- Press Croak! when you play your second-to-last card. Tap Catch! when a computer player forgets.
- Keyboard: arrows choose a card, Enter plays, D draws, K keeps, C calls, 1–4 picks a colour.
Tips and tricks
- Keep your Rainbow and Storm cards for later. They fit on anything, so they can save you when no other card matches, and they are worth 50 points against you if someone else finishes first.
- Before a wild card, count your colours: pick the colour you have the most of, so you can keep playing on your next turns.
- Watch the opponent who plays after you. When they are down to one or two cards, hit them with Snooze, Gulp +2 or Storm +4.
- Press Croak! as soon as you have two cards on your turn, before you play. You can still call right after playing, but the computer players may catch you first.
- Keep an eye on the number badges on the avatars: when a computer player has one card and no Catch! button appears, they called in time.
- Number cards count their value at the end of a round and action cards 20, so throw away high cards and action cards when a rival is close to winning.
- With 2 players, Swirl works like Snooze: you play again right away, so try to follow it with a card of the same colour.

Is Croakaroo free?
Yes. Croakaroo is a free card game that you play online in your browser, with no download and no account. Fireflies are only earned by playing and there is nothing to buy.
How do points work?
The player who empties their hand first wins the round and scores the cards left in the other hands: number cards count their value, Snooze, Swirl, Gulp +2 and Splash count 20, Rainbow and Storm +4 count 50. The first player to reach the target score wins the match.
What happens if I forget to press Croak!?
If you have one card left and did not call, the computer players can catch you during a short moment, and then you draw 2 cards. You can avoid it by pressing Croak! before you play your second-to-last card or right after it.
Can I play with friends?
No, Croakaroo is a single-player game: you play against 1 to 3 computer opponents, each with a name and a personality.
What is stacking?
Stacking is a house rule. When it is on, a player who gets a Gulp +2 may answer with another Gulp +2 or a Storm +4 and pass all the cards on to the next player. A Storm +4 can only be answered with another Storm +4.
Is my progress saved?
Yes. Your stars, fireflies, card backs, statistics and a match in progress are saved in the browser on your device.
