About the game
Nookaboo is a cosy point-and-click escape game for the whole family. You wake up in the Nookaboo house, where every door is locked and every room hides a puzzle. Turn around to look at all four walls, tap things to open, move or pick them up, and collect clever items in your bag. Put items together (a flashlight and a battery, blue and yellow paint, a lens and a soft cloth), look at clues up close with the magnifier and crack the locks: number wheels, colour buttons, symbol dials, arrows, a sliding picture, a jigsaw, a xylophone tune, a star pattern, a lights panel and a cuckoo clock.
Escape six rooms: the Snooze Bedroom, the Cookie Kitchen, the Sunny Greenhouse, the Paint & Play Room, the Starlight Attic and the Tinker Workshop. Every lock uses numbers, colours, shapes or arrows instead of words, and the codes change every time you play a room. Fuzz, a friendly little fluffball, gives gentle hints that get more specific when you need them, and escaping without hints earns three stars. Four tiny fluffballs hide in every room for sharp eyes. Your progress, stars and best times are saved in the browser, and a room you leave halfway is waiting for you when you come back.
How to play
- Use the arrows on the sides (or the left and right arrow keys) to turn around and see all four walls.
- Tap or click things to open, move or pick them up. Found items go into your bag.
- Tap an item in your bag, then tap where you want to use it. Tap two items one after the other to put them together.
- Select an item and tap the magnifier to look at it up close: some items hide clues.
- Locks want numbers, colours, symbols or arrows. Find the clues in the room; they change every game.
- Stuck? Tap Hint (or press H). Escape without hints for 3 stars. Esc or P pauses.
Tips and tricks
- Look at all four walls before you try anything. Many clues sit on a different wall than the lock that needs them.
- Tap everything, even things that look like decoration. Pillows, rugs, jars and teddy bears often hide something.
- When you are stuck, check your bag: two items you already have might fit together. Tap one, then the other.
- Clue items like the drawing, the cookie and the postcard show their secret only up close. Select them and tap the magnifier.
- Codes are read from left to right: digits, sprinkle colours, magnets, petals and arrows always go in that order.
- Ask Fuzz for one hint at a time. The first hint only gives a nudge, so you can often still finish the room with 2 stars.
- The fluffballs peek out from behind furniture and wiggle now and then. Watch the edges of the bed, the shelves and the windowsills.

Frequently asked questions
Is Nookaboo free?
Yes. Nookaboo is a free online escape game that you play in your browser, with no download and no account.
Is it scary?
Not at all. Nookaboo is a friendly, cosy escape game made for children and families: no monsters, no time pressure and no reading-heavy riddles.
How many rooms are there?
There are six rooms, from the Snooze Bedroom to the Tinker Workshop. Each new room opens when you escape the one before it, and you can replay any room you have opened.
How do I get 3 stars?
Escape a room without using any hints. With up to three hints you get 2 stars, with more you still escape with 1 star.
What happens when I replay a room?
The codes change every time, so the clues show new numbers, colours, symbols and arrows. Your best stars and time are kept.
Does it work on a phone and is my progress saved?
Yes. Play with touch in portrait or landscape on phones and tablets, or with the mouse and keyboard on a computer. Stars, fluffballs, best times and a room in progress are saved in your browser on that device.
