About the game
Bopbox is a one-button rhythm runner. Bop, a cheerful orange cube with big headphones, slides forward on its own and every jump lasts exactly one beat of the music. Tap, click or press Space to hop over spikes, gaps and walls of speaker blocks, bounce on yellow pads, jump again in the air on glowing rings and flip gravity to run on the ceiling. One touch of a spike and you are back at the start in half a second, so every attempt teaches you a little more.
Eight hand-made levels go from Very easy to Extreme, each with its own colours and its own song made right in your browser. The bar at the top shows how far you got and keeps your best %. Practice mode adds checkpoints for the tricky parts, and three golden records hidden in every level unlock new icons such as Minty, Kitty, Robo and the shiny Goldie.
How to play
- Tap the screen, click, or press Space, ↑, W or Enter to jump. Hold to keep jumping on every beat.
- Jump over spikes and gaps. You can land on blocks, but hitting their sides restarts the attempt.
- Tap or hold while passing through a ring to jump again in the air. Yellow pads bounce you high, portals and blue rings flip gravity.
- Collect the 3 golden records and finish the level to keep them.
- Turn on Practice mode for checkpoints. Esc or P pauses, R restarts.
Tips and tricks
- Listen to the music: every jump lasts exactly one beat, and most obstacles are placed so that a jump on the beat clears them.
- Hold the button when spikes come one after another: Bop jumps again the moment it lands, right on the next beat.
- Do not hold all the time, though. Low ceilings, hanging spikes and stepping stones over pits need single, well-timed taps.
- When you see a ring, tap (or keep holding) while Bop is inside it. Several rings in a row can carry you over a whole pit.
- Upside down, the ceiling is your floor and jumps go downwards. Watch the hanging spikes, they are the ones in your way now.
- Stuck on one part? Switch on Practice mode, learn that part with checkpoints, then go back to normal mode.
- Golden records are often a little off the safe path. Grab them on a run when you already know the level well.

Frequently asked questions
Is Bopbox free?
Yes. Bopbox is a free online game that runs in your browser, with no download and no account.
Does it work on phones and tablets?
Yes. Tap anywhere on the screen to jump and keep your finger down to jump again and again. It plays best in landscape, but portrait works too.
How many levels are there?
There are 8 levels: Very easy, Easy, Normal, Tricky, Hard, Very hard, Insane and Extreme. Finishing a level, in normal mode or in practice, opens the next one.
What does Practice mode do?
It places checkpoints every few seconds, so after a crash you start again close to the hard part. Golden records and new icons only count when you finish a level in normal mode.
How do I unlock new icons?
Finishing levels 1 to 8 in normal mode unlocks Minty, Bubblegum, Sunny, Grape, Frosty, Blaze, Cosmo and Prism. Kitty needs 8 golden records, Robo 16 and Goldie all 24.
Is my progress saved?
Yes. Finished levels, your best % in every level, golden records, attempts and your chosen icon are saved in the browser on this device.
