About the game

Patchwork Paws is a cosy territory game with cute kittens. Steer your kitten across a sunny meadow and unroll a trail of yarn behind you. Loop back to your own patch and everything inside the loop turns into a knitted patch in your colour. Eight rival kittens with funny names do the same, so the field quickly becomes a colourful quilt.

Touch a rival’s yarn to snip it and knock that kitten out, but keep your own yarn safe, because one touch sends you home. Play 24 levels in four worlds (Sunny Garden, Sandy Shore, Frosty Field and Candy Hills) with goals like claiming land, snipping rivals or finishing on top, earn up to three stars, grab zoom and shield power-ups, climb the Ranked tiers from Bronze to Crown and unlock twelve kittens.

How to play

Steer with the mouse, the arrow keys or WASD. On phones and tablets, drag anywhere on the screen.
Leave your patch to unroll yarn, then come back to claim the loop and everything inside it.
Touch a rival’s yarn to snip it. If anyone touches your yarn, you are out.
On your own patch you are safe: rivals that bump into you there are out.
Grab the lightning to zoom and the bubble to protect your yarn. Press Space or P to pause.

Tips and tricks

Start with small loops close to your patch. A short trip means a short yarn trail, and a short trail is much harder for rivals to reach.
Watch the rivals while your yarn is out. As soon as one heads towards your trail, turn back home: if anyone touches your yarn, even you, you are out.
Your patch is a safe zone. A rival that bumps into you while you stand on your own patch is out, so wait at home when the field gets busy.
To snip, hunt kittens that stray far from their patch with a long trail behind them. Cross their yarn and they are out, and you can then claim the land they leave behind.
Save the bubble for a big loop: for 6 seconds your yarn cannot be cut. The lightning gives a 4-second zoom, perfect for closing a loop before a rival arrives.
Stars depend on speed on land and snip levels and on how much land you hold on finish-on-top levels. If you lose your spare life, the level gives at most 2 stars.

Is Patchwork Paws free?

Yes. Patchwork Paws is a free territory game you play online in the browser on a computer, tablet or phone, with no download and no account. On a phone, turn it sideways: the game is played in landscape.

Am I playing against real people?

No. The rival kittens are computer players with funny names. They get stronger in later worlds and as you climb the Ranked tiers.

How do I unlock new kittens?

You start with one kitten. Seven more unlock as your total stars reach 4, 9, 15, 22, 30, 39 and 49, and four more when you reach Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond in Ranked.

How do Ranked rounds work?

You play 2½ minutes against 8 rivals with only one life. The higher you finish, the more points you earn, each snip adds 3 points, and being knocked out costs points.

Is my progress saved?

Yes. Your stars, unlocked kittens, Ranked points and statistics are saved in the browser on your device, so you can carry on later.
