About the game

Lanternpaws is a cozy idle RPG where a party of brave little animal heroes explores cute dungeons by itself. Bramble the hedgehog knight holds the front, Fennel the fox shoots arrows from behind and Pip the bunny heals everyone, while grumpy mushrooms, wobbly slimes, candle imps and snowball monsters come at them in waves. The heroes fight on their own: you tap the glowing hero cards to fire their big skills, spend the gold they collect to level them up and choose the best gear for each of them.

Travel through six dungeons with 15 stages each, from the Mossy Burrows and the Candlewax Cellars to the Crystal Grotto, the Frostfang Halls, the Whispering Library and the Ember Forge, then keep going in the endless Deep Hollow. Every dungeon has two mini-bosses and a big boss with a time limit, and five more heroes are waiting to be rescued, each with a role and a skill of their own. Moonstones add stars to your heroes, weapons, armor and charms drop in five rarities, the Lantern Chest fills up even while you are away and daily quests bring new rewards every day. Everything is free to earn by playing, and your progress is saved in the browser.

How to play

Your heroes fight by themselves. Each stage has 3 waves of monsters; with Auto on, the party moves to the next stage after every win.
When a hero card glows, tap it (or press 1–5) to use that hero's skill, or switch on Auto skills.
Spend gold in the Heroes tab to level up; hold the button to level up quickly. Moonstones add stars.
Equip weapons, armor and charms in the Gear tab, or press Best gear for all.
If the party loses, it trains on the stage before: level up and press Challenge.
Open the Lantern Chest often and claim your daily quests. Keyboard: 1–5 skills, A auto skills, S speed, P or Esc pause.

Tips and tricks

Level up the whole party evenly at first. A strong tank in front keeps everyone else alive, and a weak healer or archer is the first to fall.
Hold the Level up button instead of tapping it again and again: it keeps going and speeds up while you hold.
Save skills for the boss wave. Mochi's Giant Fireball and Fennel's Arrow Rain hit hard, and Luma's Snow Globe freezes a boss for 3 seconds.
When the party loses, it goes back to train on the stage before and keeps earning gold. Level up a few times, then press Challenge.
Press Best gear for all after every few stages, then Sell the rest to turn useless pieces into gold.
Spend moonstones on the heroes you use most: every star makes a hero 30% stronger.
Open the Lantern Chest before you leave and when you come back. It fills for up to 8 hours, so it never stays full for long.

Is Lanternpaws free?

Yes. Lanternpaws is a free idle RPG that you play in your browser, with no download and no account. There is nothing to buy: gold, moonstones and gear all come from playing.

Do my heroes keep playing when I close the game?

The battles stop, but the Lantern Chest keeps filling for up to 8 hours. When you come back, open it to get gold, moonstones and new gear.

How do I get new heroes?

Five heroes are rescued on the way: Mochi on stage 5, Clover on stage 12, Tumble on stage 22, Luma on stage 35 and Shelly on stage 50. The party grows from 3 to 4 heroes after stage 5 and to 5 after stage 12.

What do moonstones do?

Moonstones add stars to a hero, up to 5 stars, and every star makes the hero stronger. You get them from mini-bosses, bosses, the Lantern Chest, daily quests and journey milestones.

Why did my party lose?

The monsters became stronger than your heroes, or the boss was not beaten before the time ran out. Your party then trains on the stage before; level up, add stars, equip better gear and press Challenge.

Does it work on a phone and is my progress saved?

Yes. Lanternpaws works with touch on phones and tablets in portrait or landscape, and with the mouse or keyboard on a computer. Your progress is saved in the browser on that device.
