About the game

A friendly garden twist on the classic minesweeper puzzle! Help a cheerful mole dig through the turf without waking the sleepy puffcaps hiding underneath. Every number tells you how many puffcaps touch that tile, diagonals included, so think carefully, plant flags on the puffcaps you have found and clear every safe tile. Every board can be solved with pure logic: no unfair 50/50 guesses, ever.

Travel through five worlds in Adventure mode, from the Sunny Meadow and the Mushroom Woods to the Frosty Hills, the Candy Dunes and the Moonlit Garden, with 40 boards shaped like hearts, rings, diamonds, mushrooms and more. Win up to three stars per level, unlock new worlds and garden looks, play Classic Easy, Medium and Hard boards, come back for the Daily Patch and track your records, streaks and badges. Long-press to flag on phones, quick clear on numbers, pinch to zoom and smart sniff hints make it comfortable on any screen.

How to play

Tap or left-click a tile to dig. The first dig is always safe and opens an area.
A number shows how many puffcaps touch that tile, diagonals included.
Long-press, right-click or use the Flag button to mark a puffcap.
Tap a number whose puffcaps are all flagged to dig all its other neighbours at once.
Stuck? Press Sniff to see a safe tile (3 per board). Stars: clear the board, beat the time goal and use no sniffs.
Keyboard: arrows to move, Space to dig, F to flag, H to sniff, + / − to zoom, P to pause.

Tips and tricks

Start with the 1s next to a corner or a straight edge. A 1 touching only one hidden tile tells you exactly where a puffcap sleeps.
Look for pairs: if a 1 and a 2 sit side by side along a wall, the extra hidden tile next to the 2 must be a puffcap. Patterns like 1-2-1 and 1-2-2-1 come up again and again.
Flag a puffcap as soon as you are sure. Then tap a number whose puffcaps are all flagged and quick clear digs all its other neighbours at once.
On shaped boards (hearts, rings, mushrooms, hourglasses) the outside edge works like a wall, so start reading the numbers there.
Sniff shows a safe tile or points out a wrong flag, but using it costs the no-sniff star. Try to find one more safe move first, and if you do sniff, take the time star.
On a phone, choose in Settings whether a tap starts as a dig or a flag and how long the long press is. Pinch to zoom on big boards so you never hit the wrong tile.

Is Puffcap Patch free?

Yes. It is a free online minesweeper game that runs in your browser, with no download and no account.

How do I flag on a phone?

Long-press a tile, or turn on the Flag button and tap. It works on phones, tablets, Chromebooks and computers, in portrait or landscape.

Do I ever have to guess?

Almost never. The boards are generated so they can be cleared with logic alone, starting from your first dig, which is always safe.

How do I get 3 stars?

Clear the patch, finish within the time goal the mole shows when the level starts, and use no sniffs. Each goal gives one star.

How do I open the next world?

Collect stars and beat the last level of the world before it. The worlds open at 12, 28, 46 and 66 stars.

Is my progress saved?

Yes. Stars, records, statistics and badges are saved in the browser on your device. You can erase them in Settings with Reset progress.
